For the last two years Philip Ashley has been working in a hybrid medium of photography, painting, and sculpture, resulting in a series of textured prints on hydrocal and other industrial materials. He began this work printing scanned images of textures, patterns and abstracted figurative elements from found and collected media. More recently this evolved into a simplified approach of using his own figurative photography. This plays into his training in representational painting and filmmaking.
