Rainbow
June 8 - July 23, 2017
Open 24/7

“A rainbow is shaped color in space, at root that is what my work is.”

CUEVAS TILLEARD is proud to present Rainbow, a solo installation by Emily Kiacz. The show features four new paintings by New York based Kiacz. The exhibition will be on view at 291 Grand Street from June 8 – July 23, 2017.

Kiacz’s new body of work focuses on ideas of ephemerality and transient joy – as can be expressed by the rainbow.  This work is informed by color and movement in the natural landscape; reflections, sunsets, and waterfalls; by radiant light. Kiacz paints in many thin translucent layers to achieve a luminous and glowing surface with a dimensional, almost holographic, effect.  Painted on panel, sitting pronouncedly off the wall, the works reference both painting and sculpture. The irregular shaped forms reflect or deny their internal abstract compositions, as well as defining relationships through negative space.

Rainbow is a celebration of spectral color.
